| DonationsLeading The Way To Improve Treatment Resources For Multiple Diagnosed PatientsURI seeks to meet the need for unified mental health and addiction treatment in a single program design through the construction of a 4,000 sq. ft. mental health clinic in dedicated space contiguous to two ARTC operated methadone maintenance treatment programs serving over 700 patients. Funding of $1.5 million is sought to build the addition. Integrated treatment approaches specifically designed for individuals suffering with severe mental illness, drug addiction, HIV infection and AIDS will be offered under one roof in a modern and confidential setting. Ground breaking at a Central Harlem site is scheduled for August of 2001. Additionally, URI seeks to launch a five-year pilot project to identify, study and use a broader array of chemotherapeutic treatments at its Marguerite T. Saunders Urban Center for Alcoholism Services for persons seeking relief from dual chemical dependencies, such as drugs and alcohol. Funding of $500,000 is sought to pay the salary of a psychiatrist-researcher during the project's five-year development phase. Leading The Way To Expand Residential Mainstreaming Programs For Persons With DisablilitiesURI seeks to purchase and renovate Individual Residential Alternative accommodations for 10 disabled adults ready to move into homes that will support and promote their opportunites to enjoy unrestricted access to the community at large. Funding of $700,000 is sought to acquire and prepare two homes, expand recreation programs for residents, enhance compensation incentives for direct care staff and improve the physical infrastructures at two existing residences for persons with severe disabilites.
