Addiction Research and Treatment Corporation

To meet the extensive needs of those dependent on drugs, the Addiction Research and Treatment Corporation (ARTC) has provided medically supervised therapeutic services for more than 30 years. Each treatment facility is supported by a team including a physician and physician assistant, nurses, counselors, vocational specialists, health educators, mental health consultants, clinical social workers, and a woman's treatment coordinator. On-site HIV testing and counseling are available, as are specialized groups such as relapse prevention, Narcotics Anonymous, parenting, and welfare reform education.

Approximately 5,000 patients annually use the ARTC rehabilitation services through programs designed to treat cocaine, heroin, alcohol, and marijuana addictions.

Treatments include chemical therapies such as methadone maintenance and outpatient detoxification, drug-free interventions including acupuncture, and group and individual counseling. Educational and vocational needs are met through remedial reading, mathematics classes, diagnostic vocational evaluation, job placement, and vocational readiness groups.

"Unifying treatment approaches for dually addicted persons improves prognosis for their recovery"
